Texaco Oil Depot
1300-1302 E. 4th St.
The first train came to Austin in December of 1871, and it opened the doors to endless opportunities for transportation of goods and new connections. The Texaco Depot warehouses in Austin were built at 1300 & 1302 East 4th Street sometime before 1912. The Texaco Depot warehouse is now the only remaining building of the first rail yard in Austin. The building stands as a monument to the sweeping change that the oil economy and the railroad brought to Austin, as well as, the transformation of the neighborhood around it.
